'The Business of...' is a series of sector-specific thought leadership events organised by the University of Leeds and Marketing Leeds. Each debate has a different theme, with key national business leaders debating significant issues within that industry.

The events take the form of 'Question Time'-style debates featuring a panel of prominent figures of national significance in a specific sector, addressing an audience of business leaders drawn from throughout the UK. The aim is not only to encourage intellectual debate and thought leadership but also to raise the profile of the business strengths that Leeds has nationally and demonstrate the positive approach that the city has to handling current key business issues.

The first two debates in the series were The Business of Security and Protection and The Business of Retail which both took place in 2009. The debates each attracted a nationally significant panel of experts as well as a significant audience from around the country.
