The Business of Security & Protection - 23rd April 2009
The first debate in 'The Business Of...' series was The Business of Security&Protection, which was kindly supported by the Royal Armouries Museum and Royal Armouries International.
Over 100 business people attended the debate which took place on 23rd April 2009 at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. The debate was chaired by BBC Newsreader Matthew Amroliwala and the panel of experts, included Bruce Mann, senior terrorism advisor to Gordon Brown, Robert Wardle, former head of the Serious Fraud Office and David Crompton, Deputy Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police.The debate covered many important issues in today’s risk conscious environment including whether recession will lead to a rise in fraud, the risk of a terrorist attack in Britain and how the country is equipped to deal with it and the technological advancement in CCTV, which will soon allow the police to automatically recognise people's faces on the street.
The event attracted national and regional interest including pieces in the Financial Times and the Yorkshire Post.
